Emory Specialty Associates Agreement with Clark-Holder Finalized

Clark-Holder Clinic, PA, a multi-specialty healthcare group serving West Georgia, has finalized its agreement to join Emory Specialty Associates, LLC, a subsidiary of Emory Healthcare. The new clinic's name, Emory Clark-Holder Clinic, takes effect July 1, 2008.

Established in 1936, Clark-Holder Clinic is the largest multi-specialty group practice in West Georgia employing over 30 doctors and other health care providers with a staff of 170. Key facility locations include LaGrange and West Point, Ga.

Emory Healthcare CEO John T. Fox says, "Emory Healthcare is pleased to move forward with the first major multi-specialty group to join Emory Specialty Associates and we look forward to working with a fine group of physicians and staff to establish Emory more fully in the west Georgia community."

"Clark-Holder has an admirable history of providing quality health care," says Fox. "Emory Healthcare is proud to be a part of the future medicine in the LaGrange area. The best of Clark-Holder and the best of Emory Healthcare brings a relationship that will attract new physicians and technology to advance the possibilities for health and healing in Troup County and surrounding communities."

Clark-Holder Clinic has provided medical services to the citizens of west Georgia
and east Alabama for nearly 70 years.

Dr. Warren T. Henderson will continue to serve in the designated leadership role for the new organization.

"We look forward to continuing the current success of our Clinic utilizing our highly skilled physicians and staff in providing quality and compassionate healthcare matched with our new relationship with Emory Healthcare," says Henderson.

"The Clinic plans to operate as it does today, but with a major Atlanta partner. We expect to add to our physician staff and improve access to healthcare in our area. All our physicians will continue to use West Georgia Health System as our local hospital."

Emory Healthcare is the clinical arm of Emory University's Woodruff Health Sciences Center and is the largest, most comprehensive health care system in Georgia. Emory Specialty Associates (ESA) was formed in 2006 as Emory Healthcare's outreach physician practice organization, managed by The Emory Clinic. It houses specialty divisions of primary care, cardiology and hospital-based specialties such as anesthesiology, pathology and emergency medicine, and with the affiliation with the Clark-Holder Clinic, a division for multi-specialty groups.

Emory Healthcare includes Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Northlake, Emory Crawford Long Hospital, Wesley Woods Center, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, The Emory Clinic, Emory Children's Center, the jointly owned Emory-Adventist Hospital, and EHCA, a limited liability company created in collaboration with Hospital Corporation of America. Key business areas of Emory Healthcare also include Emory Specialty Associates, Dialysis Access Center of Atlanta and Emory Physical Therapy.

Emory Healthcare has $1.7 billion in net patient service revenue and provides $70.7 million in charity care annually. It has nearly 10,000 employees and 1, 200 hospital beds (1,582 beds counting joint ventures). In addition to Emory's own primary and multi-specialty health care centers located throughout metro Atlanta, the Emory Healthcare Affiliate Network comprises hospitals and physicians throughout Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. The affiliate network is designed to maximize Emory's resources as an academic medical center, enhance the provision of health care services and support a community-based health care system.
